On Tuesday, September 25 2012, around 120 members of the business community, government, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists gathered in Whitby to celebrate the emerging start-up culture in Durham Region. Guests arrived from across Durham, Toronto, Markham and as far away as Waterloo. With a help-yourself keg, delicious food, and a DJ in the background, distinguished guests mixed, mingled and showed their support for the local community.
Why a Mega Mix? Well, three parties were rolled into one. Not only did the occasion mark the September edition of Durham Start-up Drinks (run by OshaWhat's web master), a monthly pitch-free social for tech entrepreneurs, it was also the launch of Spark Angels, an investment network affiliated with the just-opened Spark Centre. The gracious host was 360 Incentives, a Whitby company with a global reach. To keep up with demand, they expanded and renovated their office space this fall, and were happy to welcome the crowd to break in their new staff lounge.
